Gemini Park Tychy has recently opened in Poland, and we have been commissioned to design the visual environment and wayfinding. Our main design objectives are as follows: 1. The instructions for the use of guides, instructions, warnings and other functions, telling customers how to use the mall accurately, reasonably, efficiently and safely; 2. The merchandise promoter, through scientific, reasonable and ingenious planning and path design, plus the guidance and foil of signage, implicitly let consumers generate or increase shopping willingness and put it into practice; 3. The image ambassador, through visual environment design, let consumers produce pleasant consumption experience and resonance with the environment, so as to make the brand image of the mall deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
We adopted the concept of user-centered interaction design, and on the basis of a large number of investigations and experiments, we planned the overall design scheme and refined it. We got all kinds of variable data and their optimal combination which are in line with the actual situation of the mall. We also studied the corridors, staircases, elevators, parking lots and entrances and exits of the mall, deepening the design to make it in line with the wayfinding rules and local consumer habits, while strengthening guidance and publicity; balancing all forms of the mall, promoting and transmitting consumption energy; different regions adopted different main tones and patterns, but the overall atmosphere highlights warmth and friendliness; and developing a series of easy-to-identify, vibrant shapes, patterns and fonts, according to the wayfinding principle, selected materials and colors; collaborative design of the surrounding areas of the mall, optimized the overall consumption experience to invisibly shape the brand image. The shopping mall wayfinding system designed and implemented by us not only enables customers to communicate smoothly, safely and orderly, and complement each other, but also actively guides and promotes consumption. As a result, we achieve the goals we initially set.
